X-rings (also known as quad rings or four-lobed seals) offer an alternative seal solution to O-rings for use in reciprocating dynamic or rotary applications. They are often used in applications where the seal is required to operate under lower pressure and temperature conditions.

X-ring seal is used to keep lubricant (usually grease) in place. It has higher performance (in terms of durability, lifetime, and power loss) than non-O-ring chains as it has less friction than O-ring chain while providing adequate lubrication and protection against foreign elements which also increases reliability.

Nitrile 70 rubber (NBR) is the general term for Acrylonitrile Butadiene Copolymer. Nitrile is the most widely used and economical elastomer. Nitrile combines excellent resistance to petroleum-based oils and fuels, silicone greases, hydraulic fluids, water and alcohols, with a good balance of such desirable working properties as low compression set, high tensile strength, and high abrasion resistance. Use of Carboxylated Nitrile can have superior abrasion resistance, while still having improved oil resistance.
